Give a Thief a Wallet….

A thought-provoking article in Forbes caught my eye. It looked at the security of the cloud from a different perspective and is about the dangers of centralizing data.

Essentially the thinking is this: if someone steals your wallet – whether physical or digital – the guy remains a thief. If a guy can steal hundreds, thousands or even millions of wallets, then you have a major hacker on your hands. Putting wallets and their contents in one place only makes that place a target for bad guys.

Bearing in mind that the only truly safe place to keep information is offline, then it is worth a thought in the context of the feasibility and future of cloud services.
